Hsieh Chih Wei

Flutist Hsieh Chih Wei graduated from Victorian College of Arts in Melbourne, Australia. After returning to his hometown Puli Township in central Taiwan, he started his career as an international flutist and a flute teacher. He performs regularly with major orchestras in Taiwan and has organised many concert tour concerts around the world including many cities in Taiwan, Europe, Singapore and Japan.
 
He is actively promoting the use of the Shining Piper as a tool to make playing the flute playing more accessible to the masses. Chih Wei has a grand dream to make Puli Township, his hometown, a piper’s town.
 
The Flutesfamily is truly unique in the world, all members of Chih Wei’s immediate family (his wife and children) are part of the Flutesfamily, together with all their students, Flutesfamily has a complete instrumentation of the flute's family, consisting of piccolo, flute, alto flute, bass flute and contrabass flute.
 
Chih Wei collaborates closely with various composers of flute orchestra music, including Joachim Johow (Germany), Jon Rabyould (England), Gareth Mclearnon (England). He aims to spread newly composed flute choir music to students through these living composer's bring cutting edge playing styles to flute playing.
